I have 2 weeks of holiday from my language school. Bought a new camera and went to mountainous Hakone. Came back with 1400 photos after two nights. This is the first day. Shinkansen there and Chokoku no mori - outdoor museum.
Last time in a shinkansen was more than 8 months ago when I came to Kyoto from my travels around Japan. 8 months here is a long time and already there was a sense of nostalgia in traveling like this. It feels good to step outside of Kyoto, even though I love this city. From Odawara station rising slowly to cloudy mountains made me feel like being disconnected from the rest of Japan. An island in an island. In Kyoto always surrounded by mountains, but here on top of mountains always surrounded by clouds. Where is home? Across the mountains, in the fog? In my mind?
